In potentially the worst kept secret of the last two weeks, I'm excited to announce that I've joined Energize Ventures as a Principal leading our new growth platform.

With this new role, comes a new home base - my family and I will begin to call Chicago home sometime in 2021. So, if you're reading this, and in Chicago, please reach out!

First and foremost, I want to acknowledge the people who've worked alongside me over the past few years. My former partners, Jonathan and Kevin Crowder, gave me a tremendous opportunity in launching Intelis Capital with them. I learned more starting a firm than I could have possibly imagined and I'm eternally grateful for the time I spent with them.

I also want to thank the investors that believed in Intelis. Without their belief, none of this would be possible and they are in great hands with Jonathan at the helm.

Additionally, I want to express gratitude to the founders who took a chance on Intelis. Your tireless work and unending hustle are inspiring and never taken for granted.

Last, and most certainly not least, I want to thank my partner in life, Anita. She's allowing me to uproot our family to pursue this opportunity and without her it wouldn't be possible in the first place.

She's supported every crazy dream I've ever had and every risk I've wanted to take. She's unquestionably the most selfless person I've ever met and there's not a day that goes by that I'm not incredibly thankful for her.

So....why Energize and why now?

For those of you who don't know, I worked with John at Choose Energy and we've remained in close contact since. There's nothing I can say here that does justice to the impact he's had on my career. The opportunity to work for him again is something I couldn't pass up. When people ask me for career advice, I often bring up John as the example of what a mentor can do for your career.

But, this decision wasn't just about joining forces with John for a second time. While at Intelis and through a lengthy interview process, I got to know the Energize team and they absolutely blew me away.

Venture capital and private equity is often a game full of ego and pride. Energize could not have been more different and authentic. The talent on the team is unquestionable, but the interactions at a personal level really drove home that this was the place for me.

From a macro-perspective, it's clear the digital transformation of energy and industry is in full swing. There's never been a better time to be an investor or entrepreneur in our industry. For the first time, investing in the energy transition is the right thing AND the economically sound thing to do.

"...these businesses are now the expected source of growth in our economy. There is arguably no bigger stage than the infrastructure markets... and the potential impact of that change is of an unimaginable scale."
- John Tough

So, the work continues. My north star has always been working on the big, meaningful problems with people whom I admire, respect deeply and who help push me beyond my limits. No matter where I work - past or present - this will always be true and I've found it once again at Energize.

In short, if it weren't this team, in this industry, at this time, a move to Chicago would not have been in the cards.

I am eternally grateful to those who've guided me along the way and incredibly excited for my next chapter at Energize.
